Horseback Riding Camps

Pony Paddock at Dragon’s Lair offers a day camp for Spring Break, and Summer. Camp is designed to teach students what it would be like to have a horse/pony of their own. Camp is based on the United States Pony Club manuals. Children learn what horses eat, how to identify health issues, hoof care, and care of tack and equipment.

2019 Camp Dates

  • June 3rd to June 7th
  • June 10th to June 14th
  • June 17th to June 21st
  • June 24th to June 28th
  • July 1st to July 3rd
  • July 8th to July 12th
  • July 15th to July 19th
  • July 22nd to July 26th

All children are expected to participate in barn chores, including cleaning stalls, feeding the horses and cleaning tack.

Teaching aids include videos on safety, workbooks, and demonstrations, as well as hands on practice.

This is the perfect opportunity for that “horsecrazy” child to find out what it is all about!

All campers have the opportunity to ride twice per day.

Camp Schedule

Camps are typically Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm.



Campers should bring their own lunch and drinks.

What to bring:

  • SEI approved helmet with an attached harness
  • Long pants, such as breeches or jeans
  • Heeled shoes, such as paddock boots or cowboy boots
  • Bag lunch with extra drinks
  • Sunscreen
  • Insect repellent
  • Hat with brim
  • Shorts and tennis shoes for non-riding times
